Educating The New Leadership of the GOP

The Purpose  is a massive movement  to educate and build bridges to the  of a new generation of GOP Urban Conservatives. "Not About the Party but the Purpose " allows ideals, tradition and new 21st century  GOP values  become woven into the frabic of the GOP Party.
The idea of job creation and common sense dominated the main theme. As conservatives, libertarians or moderates we realize that now President Barack H. Obama  is our Commander and Chief, but we can always look towards the future. It was once suggested that America return back to basics. What GOP delegates   missed are the millions of low income families nationwide.

The GOP should adopt the agenda of “urban conservatism”, a movement that targets groups that make up  and stresses common sense, towards financial literacy, education enhancement and self sufficiency. Skeptics suggest that urban areas do not usually vote conservative, but they’re wrong. The agenda translates into action, social action that reflects showing folks how to refrain from the government. GOP leaders and politicians have a history of telling and talking about self sufficiency, but the party until now hasn’t given any solutions. For example, former President George W. Bush was on target with the No Child Left Behind Act, which sought out the real problems in education, corruption, unqualified teachers.

Imagine a Republican Party that stresses common sense and educates people on credit, financial literacy and the importance of investments. Let’s think for a moment, as our grandmothers and grandfathers once said, if we can’t afford it then we simply don’t need it. The common practices of our relative’s years ago to spend frugally and save for a rainy day are essential to our own personal economic development.

Immigration
In respect to immigration, many conservatives see cultural diversity as a threat. But the urban conservative knows that most immigrants wish to become part of the social fabric and citizens of this country. This greater tolerance for immigrants is seen as a principal difference between urban and rural conservatives.

After the 2012 Election results we can confirm that the G.O.P. kept the House, did not capture the Senate and lost the White House. Within the G.O.P. debate is going in all different directions as to why Governor Mitt Romney lost. The reasons such as being out of touch with the people to not being aggressive enough on President Obama. Yet one of the main reasons for Governor Mitt Romney losing the White House
bid was his lack of connection with advocacy for Latino voters, which he only managed to get 27% of the vote.

“…there is an unmistakable historical trend: as urban America grew, the constituency for limited government shrank…” America has changed from being a nation of owners to a nation of renters, employees and buyers of water, energy and other necessities.

If the Republican party was conservative party it might attract more minorities but it isn't. It is a regressive party and that does not bode well for minorities.

Why are Democrats trying to help Republicans understand how they can do better?
If they did this....or if they did that.....then maybe....
I don't give a crap what the Republicans to or how they spend their time.
The ideology of today's GOP is horrific.
It's racist.
It's sexist.
It's homophobic.
The only thing going for it is that the Tea Party led them to TELL US THE TRUTH about WHO THEY ARE!
They forgot to lie.
"...figuring out how to talk to these voters...."
Do you really want them to go back to the good old days -- lying about their ideology?
Every single American watched for OVER A YEAR at their hatred towards the poor, American workers, women, immigrants....it just went on and on.
I don't want labels like "compassionate conservative' or "moral majority' or some other crap label saying one thing and being another.
So please -- Capehart -- what you should be writing about is HOW do the democrats use this momentum and the coalition to get some work done!
Like --
- get rid of the tax cuts on the rich
- get rid of CU
- implement ACA fully
- etc.

I t is so ironic that the Democratic party is everything they claim to despise but no one seems to want to see it. It is a definition of self-delusion. Democrats don't care about the poor, the downtrodden or, more importantly, America.. They care about never having to be unfavorably compared to other people. They want equal outcomes, not equal opportunity, whcih is the hallmark of American success. Being divisive, as this president and his admisitration have been, is the best way guarantee power and the best way to assure the end of America. Piting one group against another is the way you do it. Classic Saul Alinsky. Disgustin, pathetic and sad. Who would have thought America wouldn't even last 250 years?.

You won the election, managed to get huge blocks of voters to vote against their own best interest. Amazing. Who are you clowns going to blame in four years when people are paying $10 a gallon for fuel, energy costs have skyrocketed, food costs have doubled again, all you can get is part time work and violent crime which just started to rise after years of falling increases? How you can con the Hispanics into thinking that legal residents and citizens are going to be deported is beyond me unless of course it was illegal aliens who voted in the election which would make sense given the left's oppisition to any form of voter ID law.

Good column.

The thing is, everyone is concerned about economic growth, jobs, taxes, etc.

The difference is that if you are a white, middle-class man you have the luxury of only needing to care about these things; if they're good, you're good. For women, blacks, Latinos and homosexuals those things matter just as much, but they also have concerns about reproductive rights, racial discrimination and opportunity, immigration and marriage inequality.

Conservatives like to point out that women don't vote with their ovaries. This misses the point that they don't ignore them either; something that the rest of us can do at will in our voting.

The GOP is no party for blacks, Latinos and gays

The Republican meltdown over its decisive loss at the ballot box in the presidential election has been a sight to behold. Karl Rove flipped out on Fox News. Mary Matalin had a near-meltdown on CNN. And, according to The Post, the GOP has begun “an exhaustive review to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it.” That’s a waste of time and (more) money. Everyone in the reality-based community knows what went wrong.

So your answer for the GOP is to promise stuff to each minority group, kind of, or exactly what Obama did. Most of the minority groups are defined by the color of their skin. That looks like racism to me. In other words the GOP should become just like the Democrats - pandering to every constituency.
Why has being pro-life been twisted into being anti-woman? Because abortion (killing an innocent baby) can't be defended so attention had to be deflected. Why have voter ID laws been attacked as being racist? The arguement that it restricts the opportunity for fraud has been turned into it makes it harder for poor minorities to get an ID (even though most of them are provided free). There are more white people on welfare than any other group so who is being the racist now? Why has belief in the beautiful institution of marriage between a man and a woman been converted into a civil right for homosexuals? All these good things have been subverted by one political party to purchase votes. Is that the country you want? A bunch of santa clauses masquerading as politicians asking "what can I bring you after I am elected?
